The umpire decision review system basically
used in sports to provide protection to Wrong decisions made by on-field umpires.
The use of DRS in a Cricket match in 2008.
How does DRS Works
Basically DRS works on few principles:-
1- No- ball checking
2- Ball hits pad first or not(LBW decisions)
3- snickometer basically use to detect small
sound (catch appeals)
In early days UDRS is not touches the
parameters of accurate decisions. Many decisions in those days are false so
BCCI ruled out with DRS in many test series.
UDRS and the umpires
The
umpires is not being happy with UDRS because every time the teams wanted a
review. Every time that happened. Umpires must have hated his job. In gentleman
game basically who have been doing job of controlling the game. Technology has
included in many a profession and cricket umpiring might just join this list.
Changes in DRS
Umpires call – Decision made by the on-field
umpire should stand. (It mean touch of the ball with the wicket is very small)
Both teams have to decide in 15 seconds to take
a DRS otherwise umpire won’t allow to take DRS.
